Prayer

Creator God we pray for your whole creation; for all peoples throughout the world – that their lives be respected regardless of creed or colour, gender or sexuality, wealth or status. We are now in the middle of Reconciliation week, and for Muslims, Eid al-Adha begins on the 6th - we pray that all Australians may listen and learn from the variety of perspectives reflected throughout our society. Lord, we also pray for a responsible sharing of precious resources and the conservation of our fragile and beautiful world. With World Environment Day on the 5th and World Ocean Day on the 8th, may we all be encouraged to protect our planet. We pray for Governments and world leaders and the responsibilities that they have in bringing justice and peace to all.
Comforting God we pray for the hungry and the homeless in our world – may they receive the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual food that they justly need and deserve; for those who hold the power to feed, house and keep others safe – let them be guided by your grace and generosity. Thank you for the love and work of first responders. We pray for those experiencing tragic losses because of catastrophic floods, droughts, fires or war – may they receive overwhelming support. We pray for those who suffer with sickness, loneliness, grief or fear – may they know your nourishing love. For all who are struggling with physical, emotional and financial tolls, we ask that they receive the exact support they need to recover. Please pray for those people and situations on your heart this week.

Loving God, again we give thanks for all those essential workers who keep our services and communities running. We pray for their safety and ask that they be energised so that they can continue to do their vital work. We also pray that people will show love and respect for one another in situations of crises.

Father God we give thanks for Rev Roselin and all members of our church family, here and at home. We thank you for all the beautiful moments we have experienced this week and we pray for Your strength and comfort through the hard times. We also pray that each day, we may be a community that welcomes visitors and strangers, and provides help and nourishment to people in every type of need. Please pray for members of our church family who have been on your heart this week.

Gracious God, how wonderful it is that we can come together and pray for these things in the name of your son, our Lord, Jesus Christ.
Amen
